Celebrate with us!
Monkey Barrel Comedy brings cracking nights of premier stand-up to the heart of Edinburgh every Friday and Saturday – making us the perfect place to celebrate your hen party in style.
All held together by our experienced and deftly interactive host Rick Molland (“Molland is the perfect compere” – Three Weeks), each show features three of the best up-and-coming acts in Scotland and beyond, topped off by a brilliant national headline act.
We welcome Hen Parties!
If your group is just looking to enjoy a great value comedy show to brilliantly top off a full day of fun events, then no worries, come sit back and relax with a drink at our friendly club, which has been described as “one of the best showcases in Edinburgh” (The Skinny).
However, if your group is looking for something a little more personalised, we have a Hospitality team standing ready to work with you to tailor a package to make sure your party is one to remember…
The Monkey Barrel Comedy Personalisation Service!
As an absolute standard, our resident host, Rick Molland, is an absolute master of improvisation and hostmanship, with a renowned style for finding the right balance between good-natured banter and no-holds-barred quick fire audience interaction. He has no trouble making any audience feel like they’ve been welcomed and included in the night.
But more than that, our Hospitality team are also on hand to work with you should you want to involve the Bride more...prominently, in the show.
In the past we have utilised our audio-visual facilities to show embarrassing photos and videos, courtesy of Maids of Honour etc, who have liaised with our team to prime our acts with wayward stories and juicy anecdotes to weave into their material.
We also regularly instigate stage games, such as rap battles and Mr and Mrs-esque competitions, pitting one group against another and building a great audience camaraderie through the night.
And the best part about all this is that it is at no extra cost. It’s all part of the Monkey Barrel service!
Previous Monkey Barrel bills have included Tom Stade (Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, Live At The Apollo), Matt Richardson (The Xtra Factor), Tiffany Stevenson (ITV's Show Me The Funny), Iain Stirling (CBBC), Larry Dean (Scottish Comedian of the Year 2013), Vladimir McTavish (BBC's Live Floor Show), Michael Redmond (Father Ted, Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle), Janey Godley (as heard on BBC Radio 4) and Rob Rouse (8 Out Of Ten Cats).
